Well, we have been here for two weeks. The house if finally starting to take shape as all of our boxes are unpacked. Let me see if I can capture what has happened during the two weeks.
Sheila and Linda come with us on the plane so all three cats could fly in the cabin. The Saturday night flight was very uneventful for the cats however, Sheila has a tale to tell. Ask her next time you see her. When we landed, Sheila and Linda took a cab to the MGM Grand and Neil, I, and Jerome, Flagstaff, and Sedona took a limo to Mesquite. When I ordered the limo, I was assuming it was a van; much to our surprise, it was a stretch limo. We got inside, with the cats, and drove off from McCarren Airport to Mesquite. Of course, I had to push all of the buttons on our control panel. We noticed one of the lights went out on one of them...long story short, I had kept pressing the button which operated the screen between the driver and passengers. I guess I irritated our driver as he locked the button so I would stop pushing it!! Now wait, it gets better.
Neil and I realized that we would not have a vehicle until later on Sunday, so we needed to make a stop at the store for some essentials. Well, in Worcester we would have our choice of several stores; Mesquite is small town USA so we had 1 option, you guessed it, Walmart. I only wish I had a picture to accompany this part---- we had the driver pull into the Walmart parking lot. Do you think he could have parked a little bit away from the door? Nope. He drove right up to the front door and jumped out to open my door. Yup, we had arrived in Mesquite!!
On Sunday, around 5, we received a call that our vehicles were about 5 miles away. After 5 days, they made it here safely. Kudos to Ginger from Moonlite Transport who found John our driver.
Sheila and Linda, after a bout with food poisoning, took the shuttle to Mesquite. I met them at the Casablanca hotel Monday morning. Of course we had to play the machines for a little bit, I borrowed a 20. from Linda and turned it into a quick 75. Thanks,. Linda. Later that night I won another 210. Linda's luck at the casino rubbed off. When are you coming back??
We all went to Zion National Park with Neil and had lunch at Oscar's in Springdale. It was beautiful. We even helped out an elderly couple who were trying to find their way to the shuttle!
The next day, when we drove Sheila and Linda back to Vegas, was sad. I know I will see them again, but it was finally real to me that I would no longer be a part of the Worcester Public Schools. I will write more about this on October 1.
The next ten days were a whirlwind of getting the house in order. All of the "stuff" contained in the three relo-cubes was delivered on Friday, August 28. It is finally all unpacked.
We have done more to our backyard, see the fountain, including purchasing our new patio set, 2 large beautiful pots, and gas grill. The desk to set up the office is coming on Tuesday.
Thanks for reading, and I will provide more frequent updates.
