Moonlight over Mesquite

It was a beautiful night in the desert. We sat outside and watched the moon rise by the light of the fire pit.

Nevada Old Men in the Mountain

As we were leaving Gold Butte, we noticed this rock formation. If you look at the top, you can see two profiles.

Native American Rock Art

During our trip to Gold Butte we saw the following petroglyphs. We plan on going back to find more.

Trip to Gold Butte

There is an incredibly beautiful area about 25 miles from our house called Gold Butte. We drove there on Sunday and hiked. Here are a few pics of the incredible scenery in this protected area. You can see Lake Mead in one of the photos, as well. More info on Gold Butte can be found at http://www.friendsofgoldbutte.org/

First 18 Holes

We went golfing at our home golf course, Conestoga Golf Club, today. I thought we would be the slowest people on the course as it was my first time golfing 18 holes and it was on a tough course, as well. We had two groups in front of us. There was a three-some, two groups ahead, and helped to ensure that the round took 5(FIVE)hours! We kept catching up to the group in front of us who kept getting delayed by the group in front of them! Neil hit a few pars and I had a couple of bogies!! Here is a pic of the second tee. You can see Neil tee-ing off and I also took a picture of the cliff he was hitting from on the second hole. Also, notice the snow on the mountains in the background. We had a good time and have decided to do it again!!

Pet Lizards

Neil and I had just come back from a walk and entered the house through the front door. Neil wanted something outside so he went right back out and told me to look out the front screen door. By the time I got there, this was the only little guy there. We had walked past three long-tailed lizards right outside our doorway. We think this one was the youngest as it stayed there the longest. Look at the close-up. He is looking at the camera.

Snow

We decided this would be a good day to go to St. George and do some errands. When we left our house it was cloudy and around 65 degrees. The trip to St. George takes a little over half an hour. We decided to go on the Old Highway 91. It was the first time I have ever felt the effects of driving into a head wind. If we were on a plane, the pilot would have announced that everyone should buckle their seatbelts due to turbulance. Old 91 takes us over a mountain pass through the Shivwits Indian Reservation. As we climbed, we could see the peaks in front of us were dusted with snow. When we reached the highest elevation, there was snow coming down, Here are a few pics of the flurries, Neil standing in them, and probably what has been the coldest temps we have seen recorded in this area---35 degrees. There is a warmup expected tomorrow and we are expecting temperatures in the high 70s by the end of the week. We were making this trip to get garage door panel insulation so that our garage will not reach the triple digits it did in August!!

March Storm

This evening as we were getting ready to go out to dinner, a storm came in on the other side of the golf course. Here are some amazing pics we took from the back yard. Notice the "snow"-bow in the pics.

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas

And, of course, everyone has to have theor picture taken at the famous Las Vegas sign.

Jenn and Aydan's Visit

Jenn and Aydan came to visit last week. We had fun in Las Vegas, Zion National Park, and Mesquite. Here are some pics from Las Vegas. We picked them up at the airport in a stretch limo. The limo took us on a tour of the strip with a stop at the Fremont St Experience. We were there with all the Las Vegas NASCAR fans. The Crown Royal car was on display.
